Privacy
What I collect, and what I do with it.
If you send a project enquiry or request a website teardown, I keep your details to reply and follow up. I don't sell them, share them for marketing or add you to a mailing list.
Who is responsible
Creative Mess is a one-person studio run by Jay Kypers. I am the person accountable for personal information handled here. Questions, corrections or deletion requests go tohello@creativemess.ca, or +1 (226) 582-6566.
What the teardown form collects
When you submit the form, the following is stored:
- The website address you enter
- Your email address
- Whatever you write in the description field
- The date and time of the submission
- The country your request came from, and your browser's user-agent string
The last two come automatically from the connection and are kept to tell real enquiries apart from automated spam. No IP address is stored with your request.
What the contact form collects
Your name, email address, optional website, message and submission time are stored in a Cloudflare database. I use them to read and follow up on your enquiry.
Cloudflare Turnstile checks contact submissions for spam before they are saved. It processes browser and connection information, including your IP address. Creative Mess does not store that IP address in the contact database. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Why I collect it
To answer your project enquiry, or read your website, write you a teardown and follow up about it. Submitting the form is not a subscription: I will not send you a newsletter or a marketing sequence, and your details are never sold, rented or shared for anyone else's marketing.
How long it is kept
Contact enquiries and teardown requests are kept for 24 months from the date you send them, then deleted. If we end up working together, records relating to that work are kept as long as I need them for business and tax purposes.
Where it is stored
Contact enquiries and teardown requests are saved in a Cloudflare database. Each one also sends a copy to a private Discord channel only I read, so I see it quickly. Cloudflare and Discord process this information on my behalf and may store or route it outside Canada.
Getting a copy, or having it deleted
Email hello@creativemess.ca and ask. You can request a copy of what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. I will action deletion requests within 30 days and confirm when it is done. You do not need to give a reason.
Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages get read. It sets cookies and sends Google your browser details and an approximate location. I use the reports to improve the site, never to identify you, and I do not run ads. Google handles this data underits privacy policy. You can opt out with any tracker blocker orGoogle's opt-out add-on.
It also uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views and load times without cookies and without tracking you across sites.
Complaints
If you are not satisfied with how I have handled your information, tell me first and I will try to fix it. You can also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, which oversees PIPEDA, the federal law covering this.
